Subject: Importance of preseving our past/history
Sir/Madam,
I want to voice my deep concern regarding the deplorable condition of the museum in our town. As we all know museums are a natural preserver of our past, it serves as a window that bears the testimony of our history.
As a member of History Club School, last week, I took some of the children of my locality to the City Museum to inculcate them with the idea of how and what our city was. I was very disappointed to find the place so unfriendly and poorly maintained. The compound of the museum has become a den of hooligans. Moreover, the artefacts and the monuments are full of dust and cobwebs drooped down the walls and ceilings.
The authorities and government should take relevant steps to maintain the museum which portrays a picture of our rich heritage. If needed, funds can be raised by organising cultural events on the spacious campus of the museum.
It is a sorry state of affairs that a place of preservation is itself in need of maintenance. I hope my concern, through your column, will persuade the authorities to restore the deterioration condition of the museum.
Yours sincerely
Priyansh Rai
