Adarsh i also know that but actually u r not understanding my ques i want to ask that in dot product we have scalar quantity but in i^.i^ we are using direction so it is not scalar why we use it

To find its direction on its own axis at an angle o degree to get 1and for diffrent vectors we finding at an agle 90 degree to get zero.simple ok
