It was ruled by a party ZANU-PF headed by Robert Mugabe since it got independence in 1980. He changed the constitution several times to increase his powers. Opposition party workers were harassed. He made a law that limit the right to criticise government.T.V and radio are controlled by the government and give only ruling party version. No one was allowed to go against them even journalists
