Green revolution is associated with the loss of soil fertility due to increased use of chemical fertilizers.HYV seeds need plenty of water and chemical fertlizers to produce best results. Also continous use of of ground water for tubewel irrigation has reduced the water table below the ground.Envioronmental resources like soil fertility and groundwater are built up over many years. Once destroyed it is very difficult to restore them.
