VILLAGE PALAMPUR:
Palampur is well-connected with the neighbouring villages and towns.An all weather road connects the village to Raiganj and further on to nearest small townof Shahpur.Many kinds of transport are visible on this roadstarting from bullock carts,tongas,bogeysloaded with jaggery and other commodities to motor vehicals like motorcycles,jeeps,tractors and trucks.
The village has about 450 families belonging to several different castes.Some houses are quite large and are made of brick with cement plastering and houses of SC's are smaller and are made of mud and straw. Most of the houses have electric connections.
Electricity powers all the tubewellsin the fields and is used in various types of small business.Palampur has two primary schools and one high school.There is primary health centrerun by government and on private dispensary where sick are treated.
Farming is the main production activity in Palampur.75% of the people who are working are dependent on farming for their livelihood.Well developed system of irrigation enables the farmers to cultivate three different crops in a year.25% of the people working in Palampur are engaged in non-farm activities like dairy,small scale manufacturing,shopkeeping and transportation.
