1st ionisation enthalpy is energy required to remove 1 electron from outermost shell and 2nd ionisation enthalpy is energy required to eject 2nd electron from outermost shell

First ionization enthalphy is the energy required to pull out 1 valanced electron from atom to form ion..and 2nd I.E is energy required to pull out electron from the ion(atom which has become ion)..these I.E vary in magnitudes in different type of elements..eg in alkali metals 1 I.E is more than 2 I.E
