1. France was now a constitutional monarchy. The power was now divided into- legislature, executive and judiciary. 2.The national assembly was indirectly elected. Active citizens voted for a group of 50 thousand electors who would in turn choose the 745 members of the National Assembly. 3. Active citizens were the men above 25 years of age who paid taxes equal to 3 days of a labourer's wage. 4. Power of the National Assembly was to make laws and to keep a check on king and his ministers. 5. Rights such as- right to live, freedom of speech, freedom of opinion and equality before law were established.
