Find the largest number which divides 245 , 1037 leaving remainder 5 on each case ?

When the number divides 245 and 1037 , leave remainder 5. So, the number must divide 245-5 =240 and 1037-5 =1032. The required number is the HCF of 240 and 1032. By Euclid division lemma 240=2*2*2*2*3*5 1032=2*2*2*3*43 HCF of 240 and1032 = 2*2*2*3 =24 So, the required number is 24.
