Let the coordinates of the required point be (x, y). Then,
{tex}x = \frac{{{m_1}{x_2} + {m_2}{x_1}}}{{{m_1} + {m_2}}}{/tex}
{tex}= \frac{{(2)(4) + (3)( - 1)}}{{2 + 3}}{/tex}
{tex}= \frac{{8 - 3}}{5} = \frac{5}{5} = 1{/tex}
{tex}y = \frac{{{m_1}{y_2} + {m_2}{y_1}}}{{{m_1} + {m_2}}}{/tex}
{tex} = \frac{{(2)( - 3) + (3)(7)}}{{2 + 3}}{/tex}
{tex} = \frac{{ - 6 + 21}}{5} = \frac{{15}}{5} = 3{/tex}
Hence, the required point is (1, 3).
