0.2x +0.3y =1.3 ............. (1)
0.4x +0.5y =2.3 ....... (2)
Using equation (1), we can say that
0.2x =1.3−0.3y ⇒ x = {tex}\frac{{1.3 - 0.3y}}{{0.2}}{/tex}
Putting this in equation (2), we get
0.4 {tex}\frac{{1.3 - 0.3y}}{{0.2}}{/tex}+0.5y =2.3 ⇒ 2.6−0.6y +0.5y =2.3
⇒ −0.1y =−0.3
⇒ y =3
Putting value of y in (1), we get
0.2x +0.3(3)=1.3 ⇒ 0.2x +0.9=1.3
⇒ 0.2x =0.4 ⇒ x =2
Therefore, x =2 and y =3
