a=b multiply by a we get a*a=a*b on subtracting b*b. weGet a*a-b*b=ab-b*b. We know that (a*a-b*b)=(a+b)(a-b). Now (a+b)(a-b)=ab-b*b. (a+b)(a-b)=b(a-b) so a+b=b. b+b=b. (a=b). 2b=b 2=1. Hence proved.
