For canal, Width = 6 m and Depth = 1.5 m = {tex}\frac { 3 } { 2 }{/tex}m
Speed of flow of water = 10 km/h = 10 x 1000 m/h = 10000 m/h
= {tex}\frac { 10000 } { 60 }{/tex} m/min = {tex}\frac { 500 } { 3 }{/tex} m/min
{tex}\therefore{/tex} Speed of flow of water in 30 minutes = {tex}\frac { 500 \times 30 } { 3 }{/tex} m/min
{tex}\therefore{/tex} Volume of water that flows in 30 minutes = {tex}6 \times \frac { 3 } { 2 } \times 5000{/tex} = 45000 m3
{tex}\therefore{/tex}The area it will irrigate = {tex}\frac { 45000 } { \left( \frac { 8 } { 100 } \right) } = \frac { 4500000 } { 8 }{/tex}= 562500 m 2
= {tex}\frac { 562500 } { 10000 }{/tex} hectares = 56.25 hectares
