See the diagram from text... N ans is over here... Let AB be h meter and BC be x meter... DB=(40+x)m...In ΔABC, tan 60°= AB/BC.i.e., √3= h/x... Therefore h=x√3 In ΔABD, tan 30°= AB/BD i.e., 1/√3 = h/x+40 x+40=h√3 Therefore from above two equations, (x+√3)√3= x+40 3x=x+40 2x=40 X=20 Therefore, h=20√3 Hope it helps u... ??
