x/a=sin theta and y/b= cos theta.. Now after squaring both sides we get x^2/a^2= sin^2 theta and y^2/b^2= cos^2. Now add both the equations. Then you'll get the value of b^2 x^2+ a^2 y^2 as sin^2 theta+cos^2 theta which is 1
