    Because carboxylic acid is very strong deactivating group and friedal craft reaction is non spontaneous in presence of strong deactivating groups. I hope this will help you..m

    Bcoz carboxyl group is deactivating agent & catalyst AlCl3 I.e. Lewis acid get bonded to carboxyl group ,preventing formations of alkane
