Multipurpose projects were build For ease of people like irrigation, electricity generation, conservation of water etc. However in recent years, multi purpose projects have come under great oppositions :- 1- Construction of multipurpose projects lead to huge Deforestation 2- It lead to poor habitat for aquatic life due to excessive sedimentation at the bottom of river. 3- local people have to give up their land, livelihood, and their meagre access and control over resources.
