According to the Electromagnetic theory of radiation ,a charged object revolve with accelerated motion must gain energy or loss energy continiously . Now if we apply this concept, to the Rutherford 's model of the atom it will mean that the negatively charged electrons moving around the nucleus will loss energy continuously . As a result , the electrons would fall on the nucleus by taking a spiral path and this will make the atom very unstable. This is one of the major drawbacks of Rutherford's model of the atom.
