She told her to do so because oujia board has created a matter of tension between her husband and Lavinia. The oujia board had mentioned that john is a traitor and he had cheated someone. Lavinia considered this as her husband's unfaithfulness towards her. Therefore she became angry and told her maid gladolia to burn the oujia board. Moreover gladolia was afraid of such boards and hoodoos and she wanted to leave the house. So lavinia told her to burn the board and use it for kindling woods.
