Why capacitor allows ac but not DC to pass through it? Explain.

Xc=1/wc=1/2pimiuc, There is no freuency in dc current hence f=0 Then the value of Xc is infinte . Therefore capacitive reactance offer infinte resistance to the circuit and no current flow through the circuit.

It may be possible as on passing dc ,the capacitor charges to steady state then it behaves as the open switch which not allow current to pass through it. But in ac the polarity changes continuously,so charging and discharging continuously takes place.
