In the process of respiration, the complex substances (food) are broken down into simpler substances and then converted into glucose. In this whole process, energy (or heat) is released. we know that a reaction in which heat is released along with the formation of products is known as an exothermic reaction. thus, from the above two points, respiration is an exothermic process. njoY ;)
