Disguised unemployment:- This is the kind of underemployment which is hidden in which a person have a job but not actually contributing to the output and hence not visible. Underemployment:- It refers to a situation in which someone is working but his or her potential is not fulfilled and it is visible.

There is a slight difference. Disguised unemployed is not visible. It seems as if everyone is employed, but actually a few of them are not contributing to the output. On the other hand, underemployment may be visible or invisible. Eg. A person working for 3 hours per day compared to 8 hours of normal work time (visible). A person working full time but is paid less (invisible).

Disguised Unemployment : It is the situation in which an individual appears to be employed, but he does not add to the productivity. That is, the productivity would remain the same even in his absence.

Example: When a work that requires only three individuals for its completion is being done by five persons, the two additional persons are disguised unemployed.

Underemployment: Underemployment refers to a situation in which the wage is insufficient in some important way for the worker, relative to a standard skill.
