STRUCTURE OF NEURONS: A neuron is the basic structural unit of the nervous system.each nerve cell consists of a cell body called cyton which contains the nucleus.many short fibres called dendrons arise from the cell body and further divide to form dendrites.a single long fibre called axon extends from the other side of the cell. Axons are covered by a sheath called myelin sheath. FUNCTIONS OF NEURONS it is a specialized cell for receiving and conducting messages
