Ok Darshana .u r not talking to me always so how I know I r girl or boy
We may refer to dispersion of light as a special case of refraction too. now we now that refraction is bending of light at the interface of two different media. One important feature of the glass slab is that the light gets refracted twice and the two faces of glass slab are parallel to each other In case of dispersion, the white light gets split into its constituent colours. Since according to Cauchy’s formula, refractive index of a material depends on wavelength of light, therefore, refractive index of the material is different for different As the refractive index of the prism is different for different colours, therefore , different colours deviate through different angles on passing through the prism as shown in the figure above. In this case we should note that the opposite faces of the prism are inclined to each other and not parallel.
Correct

Mast life becoz in glass slab due to refractive index it passes from both medium

In case of prism , after final refraction , the incident ray and the emergent ray makes an angle with the incident ray calledthe angle of deviation . Every colour in the white has different wavelength .The refractive index of prism is different for different colours and therefore different colours deviate through different angles on passing through the prism, Thus , they are seen differently. So, there is dispersion in case of prism. However, in case of rectangular glass slab , after refraction at the two parallel faces of the glass slab , a ray of light emerges in a direction parallel to the direction of the incidence of white light on the slab. As rays of all colours emerge in the same direction ( of incidence of white light ) , hence there is no dispersion but only lateral displacement.

Prism also made up of glass???
Mast life pls use her because I am girl not boy

Rohan Mishra 7 years, 9 months ago

Because prism is a 3d material but glass slab isn't in a glass slab the dispersion occurring at one face is neutralized by refraction at the other face.

So why Anchal why it not get splitted in a glass slab
In the case of glass slab two interface are parallel to which light passes but in the case of prism 2 interface are not parallel to one another that is why....and for more u can see books

Anchal Gupta 7 years, 9 months ago

Becoz in a prism when light is passes it get splitted into seven colour nd forms spectrum where as in glass slab it doesnt get splitted
