Because KCN is ionic and AGCN is covalent

Tanuj Chauhan 7 years, 10 months ago

Because kCN being an ionic compound dissociate into two ions K+ and CN- so cn being an ambident nucleophile can attack from both sides bt cn its stronger side it so attack through cn while agcn being covalent compound does not disocciate into its ions

Jin Kazama 7 years, 10 months ago

because in AgCn its bond is strong so it attach from cn side to alkyl and then bond dissociate , while with KCn its bond break before rexn.
