Putting the coordinates of point A in given equation,

4a + 6y = 8.

2a + 3y = 4.        ..........(i)

Again putting the coordinates of point B in given equation

a + 3b = 8.         ..........(i)

Subtracting eq.(ii) from eq.(i)

a = -4

Putting the value of a in eq.(ii)

-4 + 3b = 8

3b = 12

b = 4

Therefore values of a and b are -4 and 4 respectively.
