Stele of dicot:  

  • Dicot root
  • The 'xylem and phloem' are very limited or continuous in number.
  • The pith is not present in the 'dicot root'.
  • The secondary growth is present in the dicot root.
  • In this root the pericycle forms the 'cork cambium,lateral roots' and the 'part of the vascular cambium'.

Monocot root:

  • Monocot root
  • Here xylem and phloem are 'numerous in number'.
  • Pith is present and it is large in number and well developed.
  • 'Secondary growth is absent' in it.
  • In this roots the pericycle forms only the lateral roots only.
