In ellipse, sum of distances from a point on ellipse to foci = constant = 2a, use distance formula to find this sum of distances from point (4,1) to foci (+-3,0) and find 'a' value and then sqr(a) value. As foci are (+-3,0) , hence c = 3 . In ellipse sqr(b) + sqr(c) = sqr(a), from this eqn find sqr(b) value. Finally eqn of ellipse can be found by using sqr(x)/sqr(a) + sqr(y)/sqr(b) = 1
