Sn1- carbocation is intermediate ,monomolecular in nature, no steric hindrance involved because of the size of the alkyl group,follow 1 order reaction . Sn2- biomolecular in nature, no carbocation intermediate us formed, steric hindrence is noticed due to size of alkyl group, follow 2 order reaction
