Let us assume 3+√2is anrational number So,. 3+√2=a/b √2=a/b-3 √2=a-3b/b We know that a/b is an rational number and 3 is also an rational number and when we add or subtract two rational number the result is also an rational. So,a-3b/b is an rational number.and, √2 is also a rational number. But, it contradicts the fact √2is irrational number. So, our assumption is false. Therefore,3+√2is an irrational number.
