A composite number is a number which can be divided evenly by numbers other than 1 or  number itself 

e.g  4 , 8,  9, 16 ....                     ( these numbers can be divided by numbers other than 1 or itself)

but not 3 , 5 , 7  ...................   ( these numbers can be divided by 1 or the number itself)

A whole number that can be divided evenly by numbers other than 1 or itself. Example: 9 can be divided evenly by 3 (as well as 1 and 9).
