Given: {tex}p\left( x \right) = \sqrt 2 {x^2} + kx + 3{/tex}
If (x - 2) is a factor of p(x), then
p(2) = 0
=> {tex}\sqrt 2 {\left( 2 \right)^2} + k\left( 2 \right) + 3 = 0{/tex}
=> {tex}4\sqrt 2 + 2k + 3 = 0{/tex}
=> {tex}2k = - 4\sqrt 2 - 3{/tex}
=> {tex}k = {{ - \left( {4\sqrt 2 + 3} \right)} \over 2}{/tex}
