    Maxwell assumed that some sort of current must be flowing between the capacitor plates during charging process. He named it displacement current. Current which comes into play in a region due to changing electric field o electric flux with time is turned as displacement current. Properties of EM Waves — 1. These are transverse in nature. 2. These are produced by accelerating or oscillating charge. 3. These waves do not require medium for their propagation. 4. These waves carry energy which are equally divided electric field and mag. field. 5. These waves neither deflected by electric field nor mag. field.
