Solid are rigid because their constituent particles are closely packed and are not free to move and oscillate about its mean position due to stronger intermolecular fotces.

Solids are rigid as their molecules have very little space among them.Solids are rigid because the inter molecular forces of attraction that are present in solids are very strong. The constituent particles of solids cannot move from their position they can only vibrate from their mean position.
