In a triangle ABC ,X and Y are the points on AB and BC respectively such that AB =BC, if BX =½ ABand BY=½BC, show that BX =BY

In the triangle ABC,

BX = 1/2 AB ___________________[1]
BY = 1/2 BC ___________________[2]
Since AB = BC
[2] can be written as BY = 1/2 AB
So BY = 1/2 AB = BX
thus BY = BX
