What is Nucleii binding energy
  • 1 answers

Tanuja Biswas 8 years ago

When nucleons i.e. protons n neutrons come close to each other to form nucleus, some mass is lost as mass defect i.e. the mass of resultant nucleus is lesser than that of total mass of its constituents. This mass is actually not lost but is converted into energy which helps the nucleons to stay together. This energy is known as nuclear binding energy.
