Gastric Juice releases Dilute Hydrochloric Acid, Pepsin and Mucus which helps in the digestion . The functions are given below :- Dil. HCl - it kills the germs present in the food and makes the food medium acidic which is essential for the action of pepin. Pepsin - it helps in digestion of protein and converts it into pepton or peptile. Mucus - it prevents the wall of stomach from corroding due to hydrochloric acid and pepsin as it may cause Cancer.
