Why is electrophile attached at para and ortho but not meta ? What is deativating group and activating group

I think my answer is in proper way
We know that benzene is negative and electrophill is + ve and need - ve so when resonance is there on benzene ring then more -ve charge is formed at Ortho and para position and not on meta so it's the reason. It's not accurate to write in exams but it's just to understand properly.
