A man ,when asked how many hen and buffaloes he has told that his animal have 120eyes and 180legs, how many hen and buffaloes has he?

    Number of hens = x
    Number of buffaloes = y
    {tex}\therefore{/tex} {tex}2x + 2y = 120{/tex} {tex}\Rightarrow{/tex} {tex}x + y = 60{/tex} ..(i)
    {tex}2x + 4y = 180{/tex} {tex}\Rightarrow{/tex} {tex}x + 2y = 90{/tex} ..(ii)
    Subtracting eq. (i) from (ii), we get
    {tex}y = 30{/tex}
    Putting y = 30 in eq. (i), we get
    {tex}x + 30 = 60{/tex}
    {tex}x = 30{/tex}
