Bayer,s reagent is Alkaline Pottassium Permagnet, used in organic chemistry to test the saturated and unsaturated carbon compounds. Bromine water test is commonly used to ditinguish between ethane and ethene. Ethene being unsaturated change the colour of bromine water.
