    Single crystal of Si or Ge And term junction implies the boundary or region of transition between n-type and n-type semiconductor material. The junction will behave as the discontinuity for the flowing charge carriers .

    It is a single crystal which is doped in such a manner that it's half portion acts like p type semiconductor and another half portion acts as n type semiconductor.
