The convex lens is used as magnifier because it converges the light rays and concave lens is not used as magnifier because it diverges the light rays

We know that a convex lens forms a virtual and erect image when the object is kept between the optical center and the principal focus of the convex lens.It produces a magnified image of an object that's why convex lens is used as magnifier.
