The tetrad is the four spores of a yeast, other Ascomycota or Chlamydomonas produced after meiosis. Under appropriate environmental conditions, diploids sporulate and undergo meiosis. The meiotic products, spores, remain packaged in the parental cell body to produce the tetrad.
