Prove that median of a triangle divides it into two triangles of equal area

Given: A ABC in which AD is median

To Prove: areaABD=areaADC

Construction: draw AEBC

Proof: 

Since AD is Median of ABC

BD=DC

BD×AE=DC×AE   Multiplying both sides by AE

12BD×AE=12DC×AE

Area(ABD)=area(ADC)

Hence Proved
