1. To find the volume of a body - : Let W1 and W2 be the weights of body in air and water respectively. If V is volume of body, then from Archimedes principle W1 - W2 = V p g Whereas, p = rho [ loss of weight of body In water = upthrust ] . 2. Specific gravity of material of a Solid w.r.t water Specific gravity of body = weight of body in air /weight of equal volume of water = weight of body in air / upthrust = weight of body in air / loss of weight of body In water S. G. = W1 / W1 - W2 3. Condition of flotation of body.
