Solids are rigid as their molecules have very little space among them.Solids are rigid because the inter molecular forces of attraction that are present in solids are very strong. The constituent particles of solids cannot move from their position they can only vibrate from their mean position.

Dispersive power : Power of a transparent medium to separate different colors of light by refraction as measured by the difference in refractivity for two specified widely differing wavelengths divided by the refractivity at some specified intermediate wavelength
Dispersive power is basically a measure of the amount of difference in the refraction of the highest and lowest wavelengths that enter the prism. This is expressed in the angle between the 2 extreme wavelengths. The greater the dispersive power, the greater the angle between them, and vice-versa.

The Davisson–Germer experiment was a physics experiment conducted by American physicists Clinton Davisson and Lester Germer in 1923–1927,[1] which confirmed the de Broglie hypothesis. This hypothesis, advanced by Louis de Broglie in 1924, says that particles of matter such as electrons have wave-like properties.
Putting wave-particle duality on a firm experimental footing, it represented a major step forward in the development of quantum mechanics. The Bragg law for diffraction had been applied to x-ray diffraction, but this was the first application to particle waves.
Davisson and Germer designed and built a vacuum apparatus for the purpose of measuring the energies of electrons scattered from a metal surface. Electrons from a heated filament were accelerated by a voltage and allowed to strike the surface of nickel metal. The electron beam was directed at the nickel target, which could be rotated to observe angular dependence of the scattered electrons. Their electron detector (called a Faraday box) was mounted on an arc so that it could be rotated to observe electrons at different angles. It was a great surprise to them to find that at certain angles there was a peak in the intensity of the scattered electron beam. This peak indicated wave behavior for the electrons, and could be interpreted by the Bragg law to give values for the lattice spacing in the nickel crystal.

Newton(N) is SI unit of Force.
It is defined as the rate of change of momentum. For an unchanging mass, this is equivalent to mass x acceleration. Thus 1 N = 1 kg·m·s-2.
