The Voltmeter basically measures the Potential Difference between two electrodes. ... That's why it is not used to measure the e.m.f. of the cell. Now, Potentiometer measures the e.m.f. of the cell, which is nothing but the open circuit voltage of the cell.

What Google says: p and n type materials are NOT positively and negatively charged. An n-type material by itself has mainly negative charge carriers (electrons) which are able to move freely, but it is still neutral because the fixed donor atoms, having donated electrons, are positive. Similarly p-type material by itself has mainly positive charge carrier (holes) which are able to move relatively freely, but it is still neutral because the fixed acceptor atoms, having accepted electrons, are negative.

Anurag Saral 4 years, 4 months ago

My Answer: p and n type semiconductor are not actually +vely and -vely charged... as in n type electrons move towards p type due to which the donor atom acquires + and in p type acceptor holes acquire - which makes it neutral.

If are talking about charge of electron then it is always negative.....in some situations the polarity of charge does not matter whether the charge is negative or positive Like while calculating electric force and electric field intensity we only consider the magnitudes of the charges

W=delV ×q and delV=0 as V in an equipotential surface is same

Nidhi Bharti 4 years, 4 months ago

This is because potential over the equipotential surface is same everywhere and work done is given by the formula: ( Work done = q∆V) and as ∆V is 0 so work done will also be zero

Manvi Gupta 4 years, 4 months ago

Because potential is same at every point on equipotential surface. W/q=Vb-Va Vb=Va So,W/q=0 W=0
