Activity of a radioactive substance is the number of disintegration taking place in the given sample per second. The activity of a sample of radioactive nucleus equals to its decay rate (or number of nucleidecaying per unit time).
Its SI unit is disintegration /s or becquerel. 1 Bq is one disintegration per second.

this is because there is no potential gradient along any direction parallel to the surface , and so no electric field parallel to the surface. This means that the electric lines of force are always at right angle to the equipotential surface
