When a positive charge "+q" is placed near the uncharged metal plate then Equal charge of opposite nature induces in the surface of conductor nearer to the source charge which can be shown as -

Electric lines of forces should fall normally is at 90°on the conducting plate as the electric field lines are always perpendicular to the conductor.

Every conductor contain number of free electron which move inside the conductor in random motion. The random motion of electron due to internal energy . Vd=eET/m;(T=taw shows relaxation time)
Drift velocity is the velocity with which electrons are drifted from one terminal to another terminal on applying potential difference Vd. Relation between drift velocity in terms of current I= neAVd

Electric field lines are continuous curve because electron moves continuously and it doesn't jump one point to another point so,curve is continuous

Gaurav Seth 6 years, 3 months ago

An electrostatic field line is a continuous curve because a charge experiences a continuous force when traced in an electrostatic field. The field line cannot have sudden breaks because the charge moves continuously and does not jump from one point to the other.
