Major objectives of the New Industrial Policy 1991 :-
i. To build on the gains already made,
ii. Correct the distortions or weakness that have crept in.
iii. Maintain a sustained growth in productivity.
iv. Gainful employment and attain international competitiveness.
Role of Globalisation:-
(1) opening of the economy to foreign direct investment by providing facilities to foreign companies to invest in different fields of economies activity in India
(2) removing restrictions and obstacles to the entry of multinational companies in India.
(3) allowing Indian companies to enter into foreign collaboration in India and also encouraging them to set up joint ventures abroad.

Conservation of mineral resources is essential because they are a country’s valuable possession. They are used as raw materials in many industries and help in the economic development of a nation. Three ways in which we can conserve minerals are
1. Minerals should be used in a planned and sustainable manner.
2. Technology should be upgraded to allow the use of low-grade ore at low costs.
3. Recycling of metals also results in the conservation of mineral resources.

Suez Canal is a sea-level waterway running north-south across the Isthmus of Suez in Egypt and connects the Mediterranean and the Red seas.
The canal separates the African continent from Asia, and it provides the shortest maritime route between Europe and the lands lying around the Indian and western Pacific oceans.
1. It is the shortest route connecting east and west, hence saves time and resources.
Panama Canal connects the Atlantic and Pacific oceans through the narrow Isthmus of Panama.
The Panama Canal is essential to Panama as well as United States economies. The canal is an important passage of economic trade for the USA and for the rest of the world.

The agricultural sector has the largest share of Indian workers. About 58.2% of total working population are cultivators and agricultural labourers, whereas only 4.2% workers are engaged in household industries and 37.6% are other workers including nonhousehold industries like trade and commerce, construction and other works.
The reasons:
(i) Government has failed to provide employment making people to fall back upon agriculture.
(ii)The other sectors have not fully developed in the country.
