CBSE has rationalized the syllabus with the help of suggestions from NCERT and the same has been notified by a new CBSE notification as well.
The CBSE syllabus has been reduced but care has been taken so that the learning outcomes remain the same and the students do not miss out on learning core concepts in various subjects.
However, CBSE stated in its notification that though 30% of the syllabus has been cut from the new academic year, teachers should ensure that students understand these topics so that they can use the information in connection with other topics.

The borders that we see around us are all man made. These borders turn some countries into enemies against one another. However, humanity knows no bounds of any such divisions. Dr. Sadao Hoki was in no sense less patriotic that any other Japanese. He loved his country and hated his enemies as much as other citizens of Japan but his sensitivity towards other human beings led him to operate upon the American prisoner of war. Being a skilled doctor by profession, he just could not manage to see a patient die in front of him. The sense of humanity overpowered him and made him to save the life of his 'enemy'. The story, therefore, exemplifies that human goodness surpasses all other factors.

A language of a country is the identity of that nation. M.Hamel, in his last lesson, tells his students about the beauty of their language, French, which is now being replaced by German because of the orders that have come from Berlin. He says that it is the most beautiful language in the world. He describes it as the clearest and the most logical of all the languages. The teacher elaborates the beauty of his county's language. He says that during colonial rule when the colonial power tries to enforce political and cultural dominance by imposing their own language if the natives are attached to their native language, their identity remains intact. They could say to have the key to their prison as long as they are holding fast with their language. These words of Mr. Hamel creates a sense of reverence in the hearts of the village elders, who have come to thank him for his forty years of faithful service, for their language and regretted not paying sincere attention towards it.

Hanna nursed the man herself. When he was getting ready to face some fearful eventuality she told him not to be afraid of anything. Then she knelt and fed him gently from the porcelain spoon. She also told him that he would be soon strong.

Charley goes down the steps to the first level. Then he walks down the second level. The suburban trains leave from there. Then he finds himself on the third level. He was convinced that he had reached the third level at Grand Central Station. He found it a different world of gas lights, brass spittoons, derby hats, beards, side bums and fancy moustaches.

In this lesson Roosevelt says “All we have to fear is fear itself.” Douglas has experienced both the sensation of dying and terror that fear of it can produce. The strong will, hard determination, courage and toil as well as honest labour win over all our terror and fears. The will to live brushes aside all our fears. In reality all our terrors and fears are psychological and the same can be won over.

The last words written on the board was "Vive La France" meaning "Long Live France!"
These words were written by M. Hamel to show his respect and love for the french language. He was overcome by emotions of patriotism and could not speak . So instead he wrote his parting message as a tribute to the language.

To conclude, an elementary school classroom in a slum summary tells us about the poor condition of the students. The schools are very poor in condition. The future of these kids is in dark. This story also teaches us the value of education and the value of all the things that we have and many do not.

The poem touches upon themes of social injustice and class inequality. It questions the value of education in a slum. It exposes the widespread neglect of these children who are uncared for, like rootless weeds. It gives the readers a description of malnourished children with pale faces, stunted growth and twisted bones. But the poem does not dwell upon pessimism. It highlights the role of the educators and the more privileged class in society to liberate the children and infuse them with human creativity.

Summary
This poem by Stephen Spender gives a vivid description of a school classroom in a slum and the children in the class.
The faces of the children are dull. Their appearance shows that they are unwanted. The children have gloomy faces. Their heads hanging low in sadness due to being poor. They have diseased bodies inherited from their parents and are victims of poverty. At the dim end of the room, sits one child who has bright eyes which seem to dream - of playing outside with squirrels. He is different from the others in the dim, dark room.
The walls of the classroom are dirty. People have donated different charts and images which have been put up on them. One of them is a picture Of the great playwright Shakespeare. His head is bald and resembles the rising Sun. The next poster is of the Tyrolese valley, full of churches and flowers which symbolizes the beautiful creations of nature. Another one is a map of the World. To these children the world is not the one shown in these pictures, but it is the one they see out of the class room window. They are trapped in the slums. Their future is dim and hopeless. They have a dark future as their options in life are limited and are covered with dismay. They are far away from the bright light of knowledge.
Comprehending these pictures is beyond their abilities. They hate everyone and for them, Shakespeare is a wicked man. As no one loves them, they dislike everyone. the desire for love and acceptance forces them to do crimes like stealing. The children are so skinny that their clothes are like a skin and their skeleton is visible through them. This is due to lack of nutrition. They have worn looking glasses made of steel which are cheap, heavy and uncomfortable. Their chances of fulfilling their dreams and moving out have been further reduced by building bigger slums. Until they come out of the slums, they will never know what the world looks like.
The Government system which makes these slums is the cause for these people to live in them. The education system is such that it forces them to live in these slums. They are not given the right to dream beyond these slums. They have been restricted to the slums.
The poet requests the authorities to allow these children to go out of these slums so that the maps on the walls of the class room become a reality for them. They should be taken to the green fields rather than the dim slums. The sunny, warm sand of the beaches and the bright blue sky will instill a hunger for knowledge in their minds. Then they will absorb all of it. Then these children will become economically empowered. The poem ends with a powerful line - those who make history are the ones who shine like the Sun.

People are much scared of Derry's burnt face. They pass uncharitable remarks. Those who have got a slight sympathy, they call him a poor boy. Some call that Derry has got a terrible ugly face which can be loved by his mother alone. His parents are much worried about his going on with the world. People stare his ugly face and he has developed negative views about life.

After his misadventure in the pool at the Y.M.C.A., Douglas was amidst the fear of water. He realised that his fishing trips, canoeing, swimming and boating were over. He tried his best to overcome it but the haunting fear of the water followed him everywhere. Finally he decided to engage an instructor to learn to swim and to overcome his fear. He went to the pool and practised for five days a week, an hour each day. The instructor put a belt around him and a rope was attached to the belt. The rope went through a pulley that ran an overhead cable. Douglas held one end of the rope and went back and forth across the pool. On each trip, some of the terror would seize him up. After three months, the tension began to decrease.
Piece by piece he shed the panic. He taught him to put his face under water and exhale. He also learnt how to raise his nose and inhale. This exercise was repeated hundreds of times.
Now he was able to shed part of the fear that seized him under water. He went to Lake Wentworth Triggs Island and Slamp Act Island. He swam two miles across the lake. Now he was determined and he swam on. He shouted with joy and he had conquered his fear of water

Dear Rahul,
Hope everything is fine at your end. And hope your preparation of boards is as well there. This is our last year in School, after our exams we would take different turns in our life. We all might be in different ways.
So, today I want to share my future plan after leaving school. Firstly, I would seek a nice college for me and as well as a residence there. I am hoping to get hostel there. I am very much excited and nervous too for the upcoming journey, but I am sure it would be a pretty experience. As you know, my one and only goal is to serve the mankind as a teacher, I would reach to any point to achieve this. Secondly, I am passionate about singing, and I strongly believe music can energise our soul, I want to learn guitar and would like to carry on my singing with my studies. I again want to participate in quiz contests, essay writing competitions, as now I am compromising those for my exams. I want to explore various new things which would enrich me. There are lots of wishes I want to fulfill. Some of those I mentioned to you.
Okay, no more now. We will have lots of talk after exams. Wish you all the best. Take love.
Yours truly,
Rakesh

Answer:
Practice means constant use of one’s intellectual and aesthetic powers. Perfect means ‘ideal, complete and excellent’. Proper planning and practice promote perfect performance. Practice depends on training and it means repeating an activity. Constant practice also sharpens talent.
One has to follow certain qualities to be perfect. These are hard work, strong will power, faith, tolerance, positive approach, self-confidence and dedication. The quality that prepares one for all other qualities is practice. One should not stop practising and be satisfied until one achieves perfection.
Practice is the best way by which one can achieve perfection. Practice makes one feel and understand the same idea or thing again and again. The more one practices, the more errorless one becomes. One doesn’t repeat the errors that were done previously. Practice begins in the cradle and ends in the grave. Right from childhood, man practises various activities like talking, reading, writing, eating, cooking, etc. For learning an art or any activity, one needs constant practice.
A child practises speaking first by’learning the alphabet, then the words, sentences and finally the speech. A child through repeated practice reaches perfection in speaking. One can’t ride a bicycle or a motor bike or drive a car at the very first instance. One needs to practise till one achieves perfection in the same. The same method applies to other areas too. Be it fine arts, cooking or writing. Determined to overcome his phobia of water, Douglas got trained under an instructor. He conquered this terror with an adamant determination, patience, undeterred single-mindedness and relentless efforts. He became fearless and courageous.
Practice enables a person to reach the heights of success in all walks of life. Practice develops outstanding qualities in one’s character. Practice not only brings perfection but also helps in building character. Thus, it is practice that makes a man perfect and helps a human being who faces every challenge in life.
